Mark has been a hobby games enthusiast since he first played D&D and Fighting Fantasy gamebooks at the ripe old age of 12. His career as a writer and designer began at Games Workshop in 1997, where he worked as a staff writer on White Dwarf magazine.
After Games Workshop, Mark worked for Target Games, then i-Kore, who at the time were some of GW's most significant competitors in the UK (insofar as any fantasy and sci-fi wargames company could be said to compete with the titan that is Workshop).
He has continued to work in the medium throughout his career, and is currently founder and co-owner of a card games and board games developer in the UK.

Henge Games Ltd
Henge Games Ltd is Mark's board games and card games company, founded in late 2024 with two other industry veterans. Their first game is Barbarity, a stand alone card adventure and combat game which is in crowdfunding preview at the time of writing.

Void/Urban War/Age of Tyrants
Mark has a long history with this popular sci-fi skirmish IP, going back to its inception in 2000, when he co-designed the original Void game along with John Grant. Mark handled all the lore writing, army lists and gear design, while John looked after core system design. Since then he has written faction based force books and other sundry additions and expansions for the system, contributed to the spin off game Urban War, and designed and wrote Age of Tyrants, the 6mm mass combat version of the game.

Solomon Kane
In 2018 Mark was contracted to do all the narrative design and writing for Solomon Kane, a heavily narrative driven board game from Mythic Games. The game features tens of thousands of words of narrative and colour text for dozens of branching scenarios, based on the exploits of Robert E. Howard's puritan avenger character. Mark was tasked with taking Howard's original stories and branching them to have alternative events, characters, encounters and endings, as well as writing many entirely new stories unique to the game. Many reviewers and influencers have praised the writing, a combination of Howard's original work blended with Mark's new material, as some of the best in any board game.
